This blazing hot wing recipe is an alternative to deep-fried wings. They are baked instead of fried and stay juicy rather than crisp. I started making these about 5 years ago and they were an instant hit. I am always asked to "bring the wings" for all the parties we are invited to now.
Place frozen wings in a single layer in a shallow pan.
3.
Bake for 25 minutes then turn the wings onto the other side. Bake until the skin is crispy and the meat is no longer pink at the bone, about 20 minutes more.
4.
While the wings finish cooking, place the butter, hot sauce, and vinegar into a sauce pan. Heat slowly, stirring with wire whisk until butter has melted. Add the flour slowly, whisking until incorporated. Cook at least 5 minutes to thicken.
5.
Drain the wings when finished and let stand for 5 minutes. Pour the thickened sauce over the drained wings and toss to coat.
I halved the recipe for a little over 3lbs of wings and that was perfect.
Easy enough for me and my teenage brother to successfully make.
Sauce was delicious (although a tad hot for my midwestern/scandinavian taste buds) especially with some ranch/bleu cheese!
We had Danielle Trixie make this recipe and it was fantastic!! Totally easy to make and the sauce was great. Nice and spicy and full of flavor. We will be featuring this recipe on our site http://www.cookingwithacutie.com when the site launches.
We added a little garlic powder (approx 1/2 tsp) and about 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce to the sauce. It added a little sweetness to balance some of the vinegar flavor and actually seemed to make it a bit hotter. Great recipe!
These are fantastic! We had friends over a few weeks ago, and one claimed they can't eat wings because they cause heartburn all night. We finally convinced him to try these, and then next time we saw him, he said they were the only wings he has had that he did not feel the next day.
To keep from heating up the kitchen, I put these in a shallow pan on the grill to bake them instead. They are still just as good, and all of the heat stays outside.
