Soak the cedar plank for at least 1 hour in warm water with a 2 tablespoons of whisky. Soak longer if you have time.

Preheat an outdoor grill for medium/high heat.

Pat the salmon fillet dry and place on the cedar plank.

In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, old bay and remaining 3 tablespoons of whisky to make a rub. Spread the rub on the fish. Place the plank on the preheated grill.

Close the lid and grill to desired doneness, about 15 minutes for medium. Remove the plank and fish from the grill and place on serving dish.
