This is my favorite beef stew and every one raves about it so I thought I would share it with everyone. I left out one ingredient that I thought might not be for everyone and that is 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper or 3 cayenne peppers.
Coat meat with flour. Set excess flour aside. In crock pot, combine all ingredients. Pour broth over all. Cook on low heat 8 to 10 hours. Turn to high and thicken with flour. Cook for 15 more minutes. Remove bay leaf.
in order to get a more tender meat taste you need to heat up the 2 tbls. of vegetable* oil on a pan, add the already mixed meat w/flour to cook about 8min. and then add it to the crock pot. Also, the pot for this recipe is larger than 5quarts, so keep that in mind,to add about half the ingredients if smaller pot,or just less liquid. other than that it wasnt too difficult to figure out. Tastes great too,if you use a great cup of beer u love most
Added garlic powder, lemon pepper and red curry paste for a kick. I also used apple "beer" in place of the real stuff. Fabulous recipe!! New family favorite!!
