In a stew pot, add chicken, vegetables, water, soy sauce, pepper paste, pepper powder, garlic, sugar, ginger and simmer, covered, over medium heat until chicken juices run clear and carrots are tender, about 45 minutes.

Remove from heat, keep covered. Let stand 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
Serving suggestion
Since starch is already included with the potatoes, white rice is not necesary, but some prefer it to cool down the heat.
