This is the way my mother made them when i was growing up, and they were always a treat. The sauce is from another recipe on here but I found that it perfectly balances out the saltiness of the bacon and soy sauce.
Prep: 30 mins
| Cook: 25 mins
| Extra time: 3 hours, marinating
1.
Marinate the water chestnuts in the soy sauce at least 3 hours, mixing occasionally.
2.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
3.
Wrap each chestnut with a half strip of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place into a shallow baking dish.
4.
Bake in the preheated oven 25 to 35 minutes until the bacon is crispy. While the chestnuts are baking, stir together the brown sugar, mayonnaise and chile sauce to make a dipping sauce.
